Are you fighting a Goliath? Does something you are facing appear too big to conquer?
Today, Israel and the Jews are facing a situation that seems huge and so much depends on how they handle
the precarious situation in Gaza. This week I talked with my Kid's Church kids about another enemy Israel faced 3000 years when the Philistines threatened to demolish King's Saul's troops. You know the story. The smallest of warriors outsmarted the largest of enemies and was victorious.
As I spoke about the situation in Israel to the kids, one 8 year old said, "So will it be World War III?"
Isn't that the question on all of our minds? War is just as frightening today as it was for the shepherd boy David.
David as we know used a slingshot and five smooth stones. Today, IDF has so much more. No comparison, right? But David really defeated Goliath with the following words and the truth behind them.
The most important thing that has remained true for 3000 years is what David said to Goliath,
'45 Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted.46 This day the Lord will deliver you up into my hands, and I will strike you down and remove your head from you. And I will give the dead bodies of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the sky and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel,47 and that all this assembly may know that the Lord does not deliver by sword or by spear; for the battle is the Lord’s and He will give you into our hands.” 1 Samuel 17: 45-47 NASB
Today, as with David, Israel stands firm in the Name of Adonai and they can be assured that the battle belongs to the LORD! The David Covenant stands firm today.
You can be assured of the same thing as you face your giants.
